ANG Ming Chee, a political scientist, photographer, and phagophilist. Specializing in World Heritage site management, community-based capacity building, and resource mobilization for arts, culture, and heritage policy. Serves as General Manager of George Town World Heritage Incorporated (Malaysia), ANG is also a UNESCO-accredited facilitator for the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and a Registered Conservator in Malaysia. She launched George Town Declaration (2024) and is mobilizing the World Heritage Site Managers Global Network. A firm believer in a free, just and fair humanity, ANG is passionate about safeguarding culture to make the world better for all.
"We Are Site Managers International Symposium" was successfully conducted from 1 to 5 March 2024 in George Town Heritage City, Penang, Malaysia. More than 160 leading world heritage site managers and heritage professionals from 37 countries (including 12 participants from Asia and the Pacific, 10 from Europe and North America; 4 from Africa region, 4 from Arab States, 2 from Latin America and the Caribbean) have participated in the Symposium. This symposium is the first of its kind, and aims to serve as a stimulating platform to discuss, debate, and deliver the issues, challenges and opportunities of Site Managers in the context of the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

I am the General Manager of George Town World Heritage Incorporated and an accredited Facilitator of UNESCO Global Network of Facilitators on Intangible Cultural Heritage. Born and raised in the inner city of George Town, I carry my duties with much passion and fervour, incorporating innovative ideas and holistic management on World Heritage Site for the benefit of the local people. Specialized in resource mobilization, policy making, project management, and risk assessment, I have incorporated built conservation, with elements of disaster risk reduction and intangible cultural heritage safeguarding to create a sustainable heritage city for the people who live in, work in and use George Town
