I think I can best influence future generations to think critically about who they are, the world around them, and how they can interact within their environments. To foster this, I plan to use my skills of facilitation and teaching build cooperation and collaboration as a tool for learning about the outdoors. She/Her/Hers
- Mentored students in school and community leadership by advising student council. - Collaborated with partner teachers to develop cross curricular units in our professional learning community. - Received environmental education grants totaling over $2,000 from Nature Net, UW- Steven’s Point, Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin, and World Wildlife Fund. - Built a community of learners who could collaborate and communicate during virtual teaching. - Integrate the Next Generation Science Standards and Wisconsin Social Studies Standards in adapting the provided curriculum to a virtual platform. - Integrate place-based learning through research and partnerships of the local area. - Demonstrate professionalism when addressing staff and families while also maintaining confidentiality. - Collaborate with outside organizations to provide a more holistic approach to college and career readiness. - Led inquiry-based projects to reduce waste food within the cafeteria by more than 38% with my students. - Influenced school procedures by serving on the Equity Team and the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Team. - Utilize culture responsive teaching practices and protocols to adapt curriculum for our diversity of students. - Advocate for change on behalf of students when their rights and safety have been violated.
- Develop and update programming about waste reduction aligned with Ohio state standards and current needs of the communities served. - Act as consultant for World Wildlife Fund to implement their Food Waste Warrior curriculum in Cincinnati area schools. - Represent the District at public events. - Complete contracts, invoices, and budget tracking protocols aligned with the County's guidelines. - Address needs of particular communities through targeted outreach and collaboration with community liaisons. - Produce a monthly Green Classroom Blog to connect teachers with curriculum resources. - Promote programming and waste reduction through community events, targeted marketing, and networking with partners. - Coordinate school field trip requests with the Rumpke Landfill, Cincinnati Parks, Fernald Perserve, Civic Garden Center, and Rumpke Material Recovery Facility. - Solicit programming to community organizations. - Facilitate classroom and assembly programming for all ages about waste reduction. - Set up professional development opportunities throughout community for staff to learn about local waste reduction efforts. - Serve as District liaison for Green Umbrella's Waste Reduction Action Team and the Greater Cincinnati Environmental Educators group.
