About

I am a structural biologist specialising in mass spectrometry. I research into proteins and protein complexes and the role these play in cell function. My research group focuses in two main areas: 1) In the colourful and fluorescent proteins that can be extracted from cyanobacteria and microalgae. We are developing technology to monitor the quality of these proteins for their subsequent use in food colouring, cosmetics and as pharmaceutical products. We are also developing analytical methods to detect extremely low levels of algae that will enable us to prevent the formation of toxic algae blooms. 2) Developing mass spectrometry technology in the search for novel molecular glues that glue protein interactions together that are disrupted in cancer.
