Main responsibilities included: • To build and lead the UK Finance team of 7 staff • Responsible for the production of financial and management accounts for the Lloyd’s syndicate plus 5 UK subsidiary companies in both UK and US GAAP. • Presentations to Boards and senior executives • Attend the audit, counterparty, delegated underwriting, reserving, training, Solvency II and executive committee meetings • Responsible for completion of all financial compliance returns • Responsible for implementing and controlling UK financial Sarbanes Oxley controls • UK Finance lead for Solvency II implementation • Responsible for completion of UK tax returns • Responsible for expense and investment planning and all cash flow forecasting •Responsible for UK payroll • Automation and acceleration of the quarterly close process • Automation of the statutory return process • Staff management, appraisals, development, training and discipline. • Planning workloads and the review of teams outputs • Manage relationship with external auditors, actuaries, banks and investment managers • Liaise internally with senior managers/directors in UK, US and Bermudan group level covering actuarial, treasury, underwriting, claims, planning, underwriting support, I.T., legal, HR and other finance teams.
