I have over 30 years of experience in architecture, construction, and project management, both domestic and international. My responsibilities included project sizes up to 1 million sq. ft. and $35 million. The diversity of my projects included residential, commercial, and educational applications. I have a significant breadth of experience in managing projects for internal and external entities, including architects, engineers, legal counsel, contractors, university administration, risk managers, government agencies, donors, and maintaining relationships with the local communities. I have keenly developed communication skills, both written and orally, particularly in dealing with challenging clients and cross-university politics.
Responsibilities include aiding in project procurement through to project completion. While working with both inhouse teams and external consultants to identify potential projects and partnerships, developed presentations to potential clients utilizing internal and external resources. Once the projects were awarded, working collaboratively to develop reports, designs, and construction documents with clients, subconsultants, and internal team members. Major clients include Metra, Cook County, and Illinois Capital Development Board.
Responsible for all project aspects from conception to completion including master planning, space analysis, examination of the lease market, selection of the professional teams, supervision of the construction documents, selection of contractors, review of bids and contracts, commissioning, civil engineering, soil remediation and asbestos removal, liaison with the City of Evanston, furniture selection and procurement, control and dispersal of funds, and supervision of relocations.
Managed the integration of incoming tenants into Broadgate, a 32-acre diverse community for finance and public arena for food, retail, and culture, located above Liverpool Station, London. This effort required very close coordination with design professionals, leasing agents, lawyers, and contractors. Additional responsibilities included the development of a security strategy for the entire complex, trash removal, and overseeing the construction of one phase of the development.
Responsible for architectural design on large-scale hotel (Hyatt), commercial, and theater facilities. Spent 6 months as a subconsultant to Skidmore Owings and Merrill in Chicago to oversee the production of construction documents for Broadgate, London’s largest commercial development.
Responsible for the preparation of architectural design and construction documents on large-scale commercial projects. Efforts included proposals to refurbish a Government building close to the Houses of Parliament, preparation of construction documents for a 5-story building over an existing subway line (Victoria Railway Station), and multiple feasibility studies.
