As the Head of People and Culture at Carers Trust, I lead the development and implementation of our People Strategy, ensuring that our People are able to thrive and perform to the best of their abilities in order to support unpaid carers. My role is to develop and embed a values-based approach to improving the diversity of our teams, attracting new talent, retaining, and developing our People and embedding a culture of accountability and ownership. I provide professional leadership to Carers Trust in respect of its responsibilities as an employer as well as strategic HR advice to the Executive Team and Board. Working alongside the Chief Executive Officer my role leads the work of our Diversity Group and ensure that the wellbeing, the voice of our colleagues, and the accountability of the organisation to its people is at the centre of our work.
I worked in partnership with senior leaders, directors and managers to provide the perfect solution to their talent requirements. Central to that success is supporting a great team to source, attract and place exceptionally talented people – with a focus on exceeding the expectations of both candidates and hiring Managers. I offer recruitment industry expertise and knowledge of multiple job markets to add value to Macmillan’s talent acquisition activities I have delivered transformational HR projects that have covered the talent acquisition, learning and development, recognition and engagement space including digital on-boarding for both external and internal hires. I have adapted our approach to hiring through the pandemic and the shift to remote working including the launch of virtual assessment and the development of several portals to support staying connected to people on furlough and delivering training on new service developments to our volunteers. Whilst at St Mungo's I was CIPD Award Winner in 2010 in the excellence in technology category. I developed the recruitment strategy for permanent and volunteer staff. I implemented e-recruitment across the business. I developed and managed a team of 6 people providing recruitment support to the business I developed an in house pipeline of people providing cover for client facing services across the hostel and accommodation projects reducing their reliance on agency staff which resulted in savings of around £1,000,000. I deputised for the Head of HR for 6 months and handled a caseload of restructure, disciplinary and grievance casework. I developed the client apprenticeship scheme Shortlisted in the National Training Awards 2009, and held up in the sector as groundbreaking in terms of helping homeless people return to the world of work. I also played a key role in the development of on line appraisals and four competency frameworks.
I managed a team of 25 people providing recruitment services across NHS Trusts in London. I played a key role in the organisational change project which relocated the service out of Ilford and into Watford. During my time I ran assessment Centres for healthcare professionals, interviewed nurses looking to join the bank service to the NHS. I also represented NHS professionals at Corporate events
I implemented e-recruitment across the business, took part in agenda for change as a trained evaluator. I managed a team of 5 people providing recruitment services across the PCT. I developed advanced apprenticeships in youth criminal justice and substance use services in trades such as electricians and plumbing and work experience schemes to support business & administration students based at local education providers. These initiatives were conceived from cross agency working with further education and local authorities and ultimately won Portsmouth City PCT the South East Edge employer of the year award for 2005.
