Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
I'm a Jack-Of-All-Trades native Texan transplanted to Amsterdam with 20+ years experience in banking. After stops in financial markets, credit risk reporting, systems, credit restructuring, and metals & mining, I found my calling in ESG, and have since broadened it to cover climate change and sustainability. Sustainability, environmental & social risk management, climate change, structured finance, common sense, finding win-win scenarios, pragmatic solutions, positive change - this is what I deliver. Specialties: cooking, grilling, burning, travel, history, moving targets, changing goalposts, hugging trees.
No more ad interim title.
Since September 2020, I am also heading the ESR team at ING on an ad interim basis, and in addition to my normal responsibilities as Senior Advisor. The ESR team at ING consists of 12 FTEs plus trainees and short-term assignments (as available). We have global coverage for all high risk transactions and client engagements. In addition, we engage in various climate change, human rights, biodiversity and other ESG themed initiatives and regulations.
The ESR team evaluates the environmental, social, health & safety and human rights risks associated with the projects ING considers financing. Currently I’m the primary point-of-contact assessing E&S risks of projects in Africa, Middle East and Western Asia CIS, which often means I'm focusing on large extractives and infrastructure projects.
ING is Chair of the Equator Principles Steering Committee, ad interim. I am fulfilling this role on behalf of ING Bank.
