About

I’m passionate about export development – I’ve been doing it for over 25 years. My interest in exporting began while working as a Governor’s Fellow for what was then the Indiana Department of Commerce (IDOC) and was introduced to the state’s export development initiatives and programs. Following my tenure at IDOC, I was employed by a small Indiana company to champion their export program over several years resulting in the company receiving an export award for which I was tasked with giving speeches on the merit of exporting to the area’s chamber of commerce as well as Rotary and Kiwanis clubs. Before the era of the internet, I received enough calls from those in the audience inquiring on how best to pursue export development that I looked in the phone book under export assistance to offer direction and found nothing…not one entry. There were thousands of entries for professional services of all types listed, but not one entry for exporting which even by then offered an incredible, untapped economic revenue stream for US companies of all sizes. I created Foreign Targets, Inc. shortly thereafter with the intent of providing American companies an option to grow their export opportunities with a company whose principal had a proven history of growing revenue through international trade. The competitive advantage FTI offers clients is pretty simple: efficient and effective export development without the added expense of fixed overhead and lengthy learning curves associated with the permanent staffing of an in-house export manager. Over those 25 years, we’ve exported to over 60 countries on every continent with all clients receiving payment in full. While I remain passionate about export development, I have other interests that drive my free time including oil painting, down-hill skiing, working out and sailing.
