Responsible for driving the company’s financial performance by developing and analyzing P&L reporting and forecasting Analyze operational, sales and manufacturing performance while implementing KPIs to continue to drive improvement and growth Oversee all aspects of the company - operations, sales, manufacturing, distribution, accounting, personnel
• Handle the human resources and employee relations in the Midwest region • Responsible for staffing and personnel issues and management at 30 facilities throughout eight states, in addition to four corporate office departments comprising more than 80 employees • Develop strong relationships with executives and department managers • Sourcing and interviewing prospective candidates, along with negotiating salaries and benefits with prospective and current employees • Work with departmental management to help advance internal employees, transferring to other departments or relocating to other facilities and operations • Assisting with departmental discipline and recommending and executing terminations when necessary
• Oversee production of 32 of the company’s suburban newspapers • Manage designers on the layout desk • Work with editors to create special print and web packages for their papers • Work with the marketing department to help implement new ideas in print and web publications
• Prepare four of the company’s suburban offices for the switch to a new, cloud-based print and web editorial system • Lead training sessions for editorial staff: reporters, photographers, designers, and editors • Work with IT to ensure infrastructure was updated and work with the company’s printing facility to prepare page output in the new system • Oversee the system launch and help complete pages on time in the new environment
• Responsible for three of Sun-Times Media’s suburban newspapers: The Elm Leaves, The Franklin Park Herald-Journal, and The Norridge and Harwood Heights News • Oversee the weekly print and web production of all three papers • Manage paper staffs, including handling payroll duties, personnel issues and scheduling • Work with the marketing and advertising departments to help increase brand awareness for Sun-Times Media and its print and web publications
• Responsible for editing and laying out the A1 package, business pages, local news section and nation and world pages • Handle entire sections on a tight nightly deadline • Copy edit staff and wire stories; write photo captions and headlines
