I’m currently the General Manager for RWG’s Marine Division, a group established to service Rolls Royce marine gas turbines employed as propulsion unit by various navies across the world. After obtaining my Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, I went on to develop my technical, commercial and personal skills in various international locations including; long term residential secondments in both the Middle East and North America. I now use these skills to bring a deep level of technical comprehension to a management role which has proved invaluable to both my employer and myself. As part of my current role and my experience to date, I have procured a number of respected transferable skills including; Profit & Loss account management, operations management, strategic planning and execution, project management, business development, asset management, HSE, establishing and maintaining customer relationships, commercial and contractual negotiations, business turnaround and re-invigoration, team building, continuous improvement and operational excellence. I am passionate about implementing and maintaining a culture of Health and Safety awareness, whilst being keenly aware of the commercial environment in which I work. This has allowed me to deliver solutions to complex multidisciplinary problems, that require both long term strategic planning as well as short term abstract problem solving in a safe and cost effective manner. Expansion of my existing roll to encompass additional responsibilities within RWG's Component Technology Division. Day to day responsibilities include project management, business diversification and process improvement.
Responsible for the creation and development of RWG's new Marine Division, including the induction of three new product lines and establishment of a new Marine R&O facility. Business leader for RWG's R&O activities relating to the Rolls-Royce WR-21, Spey, Olympus and RT range of Power Turbines. Responsible for the P&L account of the division and the day-to-day management a team of 31 skilled individuals.
4x6 month rotations through various business units, each ending in out-briefs to the board of directors. The Aim being, to gain maximum exposure to as many different OEM engine types as possible, as well as different business environments and cultures. To date,I have had experience with Ruston TB's, Siemens Typhoon and Tornado (DLE and Conventional combustion), GE Frame 6, 7 & 9, E, FA and FA+e Units (DLN1 DLN2 and Conventional Combustion) as well as Solar Centaur, Taurus and Mars Units. I have had the opportunity to work in Scotland, the U.S.A, Italy, Oman and Dubai.
