Andrew has been involved in environmental management since leaving university in 1995 and has qualifications in Engineering (environmental), Business and Law. He worked within the State environmental protection agencies for over 8 years before becoming a consultant in 2003 and has held senior managerial roles in both large (ASX-listed) and small consultancies. Whilst a key focus of his career has been in the assessment and management of mining and industrial projects, he has a wide knowledge of other industries such as waste management and land development and his work covers such technical areas as pollution, contaminated sites, land-use conflicts, approvals and impact assessment. His expertise and knowledge of the State’s regulatory regime has also seen him engaged by a range of clients (public and private) to provide an ongoing advisory role as well as act as Expert Witness and undertake specialist Peer Review work in a variety of forums, including the State Administrative Tribunal and Warden’s Court. He regularly presents papers and presentations on a range of subjects to a variety of audiences including tertiary institutions, community groups and recognised industry groups both within WA and nationally. He is a member of the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy's Environment Committee and was a former member of the Environment Committees for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA). He was a Specialist Member of the Western Australian Development Assessment Panels from 2017-2020.

In addition to this, team members have taken a proactive role in industry bodies such as the Goldfields Environmental Management Group, Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia, the Waste Management Association of Australia, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Surveyors and Spatial Sciences Institute.

Andrew was the General Manager and an Environmental Principal at Syrinx Environmental PL, a high-end multi-disciplinary company which integrates science, engineering and design disciplines to solve complex environmental challenges and deliver innovative and pragmatic sustainability solutions. Syrinx has offices in Melbourne and Perth, with staff from both offices operating Australia-wide. Andrew’s role across Syrinx included the management of the day-to-day activities of the company as well as the provision of technical advice to staff, clients and government agencies and the management of a variety of projects, human resources, marketing, IT and finance. He worked as both Project Director and Project Manager across a number of diverse projects, took on QA/QC responsibilities for projects across the company and delivered a number of new processes and systems which facilitated better operational outcomes. He was responsible for contractual negotiations, staff and client management and management of the overall risk profile of the company. He was also a focal point within the company for queries and concerns (internal and external) both from a technical and non-technical perspective.
Andrew was the Manager for the Environmental Services Business Unit and a Principal within Cardno. Andrew joined Cardno in 2003 and his background and experience with a wide range of industries saw him take on a number of roles including Section Leader for the Contaminated Sites and Acid Sulfate Soils, Solid Waste Management and Mining and Industrial. In May 2009, Andrew became the Manager of the Environmental Services Business Unit at Cardno WA and he worked closely across all facets of the services it provides including: • Mining and Industrial; • Sustainability and Solid Waste Management; • Ecology; • Hydrology and Hydraulics; • Environmental Planning; and • Contaminated Land and Acid Sulfate Soils As Business Unit Manager, Andrew was responsible for over 30 staff in Perth and Busselton, Western Australia. He had overall responsibility for the delivery of a vast number of projects each year, and provided both Project Director and Project Review roles across the vast majority of these projects. Andrew was the key interface in negotiating commercial terms with clients and suppliers and also understanding the risk profile of the Business Unit and the individual projects delivered.
