Support the Systems Engineering of the GMD Weapons System for the Missile Defense Agency. Conduct design and development of the GMD Fire Control Software as an embedded member of an Agile team. I collaborate with end-users, developers, and everyone in between to ensure a user-centric software design that meets the contractual requirements and DoD standards for the GWS program.
Lead integrator for the 100th Missile Defense BDE, technical SME in Fire-Control Software fielding as the operational element for Agile deployments. Project manager for achieving ATO on a unique Integrated Electronic Security System managing ISO, ISSOs, and ISSMs through the Army Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. Act as alternate ISO, CCB/TCB chair, and team coordinator. Produce actionable research through published white-papers on end-user employment of software capabilities.
Serves as the Command and Control (C2) Systems Integrator for the only multi-component Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) BDE capable of defeating Intercontinental Ballistic Missile attacks against the United States. Provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to BDE staff and subordinate elements with respect to GMD gunnery program, asset management, system hardware and software capabilities, and TTP development. Updates BDE Tactical Standard Operations Procedures (TSOP), gunnery program, and tactical annex documents. Serves as a conduit between material developers and the warfighter for fielding new capabilities and implementing Upgrade Training. Coordinates and manages the maintenance deconfliction of strategic-level and globally dispersed GMD assets. Assists Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) in the development of GMD doctrinal requirements. Conducts Organizational Readiness Evaluations (OREs) of BDE and BN. Maintains certification as Current and Readiness Operations Officer positions. Spearheaded a new GMD Master Gunner Course for the Army, and acted as the GMD Master Gunner Course Training Manager.
As a Readiness Operations Officer for the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, I was a member of a team that operates the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system. By coordinating with strategic level assets around the globe, I ensured that the GMD fire control system was available to engage threat Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) according to the readiness posture as dictated by the Commander, USNORTHCOM. I maintained up-to-date enemy order of battle information to provide the Director of the GMD fire control system with threat analysis. By combining my extensive knowledge of the US Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) architecture with my experience analyzing ballistic missile threats (both technologically and geo-politically), I produced and implemented realistic training simulations. I trained multiple warfighters on operating the GMD fire control system under realistic conditions with threats emanating from North Korea and Iran. These training scenarios allowed the crew to refine techniques for countering developing threats in real-world situations.
As the lead analyst and threat subject matter expert for the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, I focused research efforts on North Korea, Iran, and China primarily at the Top Secret SCI level. Monitoring geo-political trends, provocation cycles, and force posturing I developed intelligence estimates that were integrated into strategic level operations for the US ballistic missile defense enterprise. Critical for developing these estimates is a scientist-level understanding of ballistic missile technology, which I maintained through on-going research and by developing annexes that detailed technological advances of each threat system. Weekly operations included developing and writing an intelligence digest that covered all aspects of ballistic missile threats from both open and classified sources. I also researched, developed, and briefed a weekly intelligence update that the Brigade Commander would use to engage the 3-star SMDC Commander. Given my extensive knowledge base on ballistic missile threat technology, I was the primary briefer for VIPs up to the 4-star General Officer level. I am very comfortable briefing high-level intelligence and ballistic missile technology to any audience, able to react to questions and provide expanding information on the fly. In addition to real-world operations, I also played a substantial role in multiple COCOM level exercises including Global Thunder/Lightning, Vigilant Shield, Key Resolve, and Yama Sakura. Global Thunder and Vigilant Shield are heavily focused on strategic missile defense operations, thus I developed exercise scenarios from the S2 and G2 perspectives. I was required to structure these scenarios based on the real world capabilities and force structures of both friendly and enemy forces. For exercises Key Resolve and Yama Sakura, I was used as the expert liaison to SOKOR and the Japanese SDF for intelligence on North Korean ballistic missile technology and force dispersion.
I was selected to provide lead intelligence support to BG Wiercinski for operations in Multi-National Division (MND) North. I developed extensive incident databases to analyze and monitor insurgent activity in the area of operations. I would use the analysis to identify intelligence gaps and then request ISR support from adjacent units. I also developed “engagement packets”, essentially providing BG Wiercinski with dossiers on locals that he was to engage as well as all pertinent route threat information. One particular engagement packet provided intelligence to the movement team that directly prevented combat casualties. During this deployment, I was temporarily assigned to provide intelligence support to the Joint Nineveh Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT). I provided all-source analysis on civil engagements within the Nineveh province as well as threat analysis for all movements by the PRT director, SES Dr. Knight. During my deployment, I worked with multiple intelligence agencies in a truly Joint environment to provide both tactical and strategic intelligence in support of the missions in MND-North.
