About

I recently completed my M.S. in Kenneth Williams' lab at Boston College, where I studied myeloid cell dysregulation in HIV-associated comorbidities. As an undergraduate, I worked as a veterinary technician in the lab of Beth Costine-Bartell in Harvard Medical School. In this role, I helped investigate potential therapeutic targets for traumatic brain injury. I also have a background in healthcare; I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician from 2020-2022, during the COVID-19 pandemic. My skills include: flow cytometry, FACsorting, RNA extraction & RNA sequencing, immunohistochemistry (IHC/IF on FFPE and FF tissues), light microscopy, statistical modeling in R, large animal anesthesia and necropsy, emergency medical care.

My contributions to science include (1) Identification of interleukin-18 as a potential predictive biomarker of cardiovascular and neurocognitive disease in persons with HIV infection (Ding et al. 2024) (2) Investigation of causes of monocyte dysregulation in HIV-comorbidities (3) Finding that monocyte dysregulation in blood is reduced by CSF1R inhibitor-mediated clearance of perivascular macrophages in a rhesus macaque model of AIDS (Ding-Su et al., 2024 [Conference Submission]).
