In 2014, I graduated from Misericordia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. After graduation, I began working as a High School Mathematics teacher. The experience I gained from teaching honed my mathematical knowledge in the following areas: Algebra, Trigonometry, Probability & Statistics. As a Teacher, I became comfortable teaching difficult concepts to large groups of people. I made difficult concepts easy to learn and understand to a diverse group of learners. I also led professional development to colleagues that were geared toward data analytics of student assessments. In 2017, I pursued a Master of Science degree in Data Analytics while working full time as a High School Mathematics teacher. I wanted to transition from teaching where I could continue to leverage my love of Mathematics and Statistics. I wanted to challenge myself to begin doing more with the wealth of knowledge I had built. It was because of this transition that I learned how important my experience teaching would serve me in my new career as a Data Scientist. In 2019, I finished my Masters and transitioned from a wonderful career teaching Mathematics to a career in Data Science. Today I continue to strive for excellence in all that I do and have a deep love for problem solving. I enjoy and value working with diverse teams as I believe that diversity fosters creativity and problem solving. I keep up with the latest technologies and AI/ML methods as they are an important part of what I do as a Data Scientist. I am a lifelong learner and always try to combine my intellect and creativity to help solve difficult problem sets and support my customers to help them achieve their goals. I know how to break down difficult concepts and show others how to use and apply them.
At Black Cape, I collaborated with stakeholders to develop advanced data science capabilities and analytic solutions, leveraging both open-source and proprietary data. I created and maintained ETL pipelines for large-scale data processing and developed R Shiny applications to demonstrate the impact of data science efforts. While here, I have also been able to expand my skill set in software development by focusing on UI development, where I utilized React, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Material-UI (MUI) to enhance user interfaces, automate workflows, and improve overall system efficiency. My contributions helped streamline business processes, enhance application performance, and ensure smooth integration of new features into a production environment.
Teaching at the collegiate level has long been a dream of mine, and I am excited to have the opportunity to inspire and guide students as they explore the vast field of data science. I am committed to shaping the next generation of data professionals, fostering critical thinking, and making a lasting impact on their academic and professional journeys. Throughout my career, I have consistently met individuals where they are, helping them bridge knowledge gaps and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. Empowering others to grow and succeed both in and outside the classroom gives me drive and purpose.
At Deloitte, I worked as both a Senior Data Scientist and Data Analytics Manager across Department of State programs. While there, I developed and matured as a Data Scientist and transitioned into a management role where I served as the technical lead for the PA Housing Assistance Fund program. I developed and implemented ML and Analytic solutions using cloud platform technologies such as AWS's SageMaker & Redshift. I worked closely with data engineers, data architects, analysts and other data scientists to meet client needs and expectations.
At Zenetex, I worked with government stakeholders to help them understand what digital transformation via Data Science advanced methods could look like across their organization. I developed analytic tools and web applications to improve analyst workflows. I also wrote white papers on the latest Data Science methods to help leadership across the enterprise better understand Data Science and its ability to improve manual processes and workflows.
At SNC, I jumpstarted my Data Science career by working with petabytes of Cellular data. I helped to develop ETL pipelines to store, consolidate, clean and manage weekly imports from various sources. I developed analytics to glean value and understanding from the data to support customer products. While there, I also had the opportunity to develop restfulAPI services for a google-maps type web application for maritime navigation. I developed a route planning algorithm used to navigate around non-navigable areas in the worlds oceans. This work gave me invaluable insights into software development end-to-end processes.
