Professional writer and communicator with nine years of writing experience covering a vast array of sports. Worked for eight years on the Ohio State athletics beat, including three years as Eleven Warriors' lead basketball and secondary football writer. My experience also includes work as a sports editor for Tallapoosa Publishers in Alabama, where I was promoted to a higher-profile sports editing position within the same company in three months. Excited for any opportunities that may come up!
I served as the lead basketball writer and secondary football writer for Eleven Warriors, one of the largest sites covering Ohio State athletics.
I covered the Ohio State Buckeyes for the newspaper Buckeye Sports Bulletin. My stories were primarily focused on football, though I also provided some basketball coverage and ran a weekly story on the wrestling team.
I held an ongoing freelance writing role with PressProsMagazine covering western Ohio high school sports, central Ohio high school sports, and Ohio State baseball since my sophomore year of college. Wrote magazine-style articles on an array of sports including football, baseball, volleyball, bowling and both boys and girls basketball.
As Regional Sports Director for the Alexander City Outlook in Alexander City, Alabama, I not only covered all the athletics teams for five high schools in the area but shot many of my own photos and even briefly ran a weekly podcast. This role also included managing a staff of freelance reporters and the sports editor for The Wetumpka Herald to coordinate area coverage and ensure the best possible sports coverage for Tallapoosa Publishers company-wide. This position included coverage of football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, fishing and outdoor sports, wrestling, boys and girls soccer, golf, tennis and even youth sports.
First full-time job within the sports journalism industry after college, covering all athletics teams of six high schools for The Wetumpka Herald, part of Tallapoosa Publishers' network of Alabama-based newspapers. After three months working in this position I was promoted to a higher-profile role with another Tallapoosa Publishers newspaper, the Alexander City Outlook. I even spent a month fulfilling both roles while my replacement at this position was found. In addition to an expected output of around 10 articles a week, I shot most of my own photos, including some that landed on the paper's front page.
Covered Ohio State football recruiting for Rivals, maintaining relationships with a smattering of the team’s prospects and often their family members. Worked with other writers to obtain intel and insight about directions of certain recruitments and evaluate skill sets of recruits.
