The Swiss Society for International Law (SSDI/SVIR) was founded in 1914 at a founding meeting of 40 people with the aim of encouraging Switzerland to actively participate in the further education of international law. Today the SSDI/SVIR has more than 350 members who are engaged in the practice or theory of international law, private international law, European law as well as international criminal, tax, economic or administrative law. The association is the preferred meeting place for all lawyers in Switzerland who are interested in international and European law. At a time when specialisation is becoming the rule, an association of people from the most diverse fields of activity and specialization is a necessity. In order to take account of these developments, the Swiss Association for International Law offers a place for the exchange of ideas and for further training. It also aims to promote the qualitative implementation of international law and to convey the importance of international law to a broad public.
