As CTO & Head of Engineering at NIS AG, I lead the engineering organization responsible for the NIS product suite and our cloud-based SaaS offerings for Swiss energy providers. My focus is on building secure, scalable and operationally resilient software platforms for business-critical infrastructure. This includes cloud architecture, product engineering, cybersecurity, DevOps culture, operational excellence and the transition from traditional on-premise delivery to SaaS operations. During my tenure as Director of Engineering & Product at Autodesk, I led the BIM Collaborate / Pro product line, generating over $100M in annual revenue, and propelling the Autodesk's Construction Cloud. Steering cross-functional teams of 100+ professionals, I ensured the design, development and enhancement of Autodesk’s BIM data and products in the Cloud. My role involved overseeing the entire software and product lifecycle, from ideation to execution, ensuring SaaS excellence, strategic alignment with business objectives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. As a key liaison, I provided transparent communication and updates between product, sales, marketing, and executive leadership, driving impactful results and fostering innovation and collaboration.
As the Senior Cloud Engineering Manager at Autodesk, I led the design and development of cloud products and services for the Design and Construction industry, overseeing seven scrum teams across six global offices. I directed the engineering efforts behind Autodesk BIM 360 Design and Preconstruction solutions, including pioneering the Autodesk Forge Data Management API (Forge-DM) that facilitates seamless cloud data access for customers and partners with hundreds of millions daily requests. My responsibilities included defining product roadmaps to meet market demands and business objectives and providing leadership and mentorship to Engineering Managers and Software Architects. I successfully cultivated a culture of innovation and collaboration within the teams, implementing agile methodologies to optimize performance and drive successful product launches.
As the Engineering Leader of the Autodesk Infrastructure Collaboration Products group, I managed four distinct product teams spanning Autodesk AutoCAD Map3D, AutoCAD Utility Design, Autodesk Infrastructure Map Server, and Autodesk InfraWorks 360. Each team, comprised of dozens of highly skilled engineers and architects, operated globally and across desktop, web, and mobile platforms. My role involved navigating diverse geographical and cultural landscapes, ensuring alignment of goals and optimizing collaboration across borders and timezones. I oversaw the entire Software Development Lifecycle process, including resource and release planning, while defining product strategies alongside the product and marketing core teams. In this role I spearheaded the agile transformation of the organization, implementing Scrum methodologies and best practices to improve team velocity, streamline development processes, and enhance product quality.
Leading a team of senior software developers working on c-plan Topobase. Responsible for the delivery of key features and components for c-plan Topobase. Project coordination and resource planning for product and project development, testing and delivery.
Developing c-plan Topobase, a desktop and web GIS application based on Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk MapGuide. Implementation and management of customer specific tools and application as software developer and project lead. Close collaboration with customer representatives. Later promoted to a technical lead position, responsible for designing and implementing the next generation Topobase GIS application with new Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft .NET, C# and ASP.NET. In charge of various software core components and related desktop and web applications on top of it.
