About

As the Advanced Practice Nurse in the Heart & Vascular Centre at Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt, my clinical focus is where complexity meets care — heart failure, cardiomyopathy, and amyloidosis, conditions that demand interdisciplinary thinking, nuanced patient education, and continuity across the care pathway. A clinical background rooted in arrhythmia and syncope has deepened this work considerably; understanding rhythm disturbances as both a cause and consequence of structural heart disease adds a layer of clinical reasoning that I bring to every complex patient. This interest remains active, most recently through contribution to the German National AF Guidelines. Being one of the first internationally experienced APNs in this setting has shaped both my work and my sense of responsibility. Alongside direct patient care, I lead the development of the APN service within the heart center. Until recently the only APN in the centre, I now mentor a newly appointed colleague in heart surgery through the early stages of the role — while continuing to support the growth of heart failure nurses through SOP development and structured education. For me, this isn't just role-building; it's about creating something that outlasts any one person in the post. This work builds on a career grounded in cardiology and a 12.5-year period in the UK, where I developed the clinical depth and academic foundation that I carried back to Germany to help pioneer Advanced Nursing Practice — a role still finding its shape here. That pioneering spirit has always extended beyond the walls of one hospital. Through the Qualitätszirkel in the Rhine-Main region, the DGK, and ACNAP, as well as collaborations reaching Bern, Sydney, and the UK, I stay connected to the wider conversation. These collaborations continue to grow — in 2026 I take up an ordinary board position within the ACNAP Board (2026–2028), a role I approach with both humility and determination to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of cardiac nursing across Europe. My goal remains what it has always been: to raise the standard of cardiac nursing care and to advocate for the APN role as something both patients and the profession deserve.

Since 2006 I have been working part-time as a wedding and portrait photographer. This started through enjoying the hobby and taking opportunities to assist on weddings as a second photographer. This has led to requests to photograph weddings starting with the size of 500 guests in germany to even more personal weddings with 30 guests internationally. I enjoy getting to know different cultures and feel privileged to photograph weddings from different ethnic background. I do work international if required and have photographed occasions in Germany, Barbados, Kenya, Bolivia, Chile, UK or other countries. As this all happens part-time next to my full-time job as Nurse the amount of weddings has been according to my availabilities.
