Prof. Andrea Corda graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Sassari in 2006. Between 2007 and 2011, he was awarded a training and research fellowship in Veterinary Cardiovascular Ultrasonography funded by the Regione Autonoma della Sardegna under the Master and Back Program. During this period, he spent 18 months at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Zaragoza (Spain) and 24 months at the Internal Medicine Section of the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sassari. In 2011, he obtained the Diploma of Specialization in Pathophysiology of Reproduction of Domestic Animals at the University of Naples Federico II, defending a thesis on the relationship between the testicular artery resistivity index and testosterone levels in Sardinian bucks. In 2016, he was awarded a European PhD from the University of Sassari with a dissertation focused on the use of two-dimensional Speckle Tracking echocardiography to assess systolic function in dogs with Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome. During his doctoral training, he carried out research periods at the Small Animal Hospital of the University of Glasgow (UK) and at the Department of Animal Pathology of the University of Zaragoza (Spain). Since March 2017, he has been a faculty member at the Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Sassari, where he served as Researcher and, since 2023, Associate Professor. He teaches Small Animal Medical Pathology and Clinical Semiology and is responsible for the cardiology service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. He is author and co-author of numerous scientific publications and has presented his research at national and international conferences. His main research interests include veterinary cardiology, cardiovascular ultrasonography, and advanced echocardiographic techniques (ORCID: 0000-0002-9771-4143; SCOPUS ID: 35169032900). With a strong interest in medical statistics, in 2017 he completed a one-year advanced course in Clinical Statistics at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and is currently enrolled in a second-level Master’s degree in Biostatistics and Epidemiological Methodology at the University of Pavia.
