About

I am fascinated by the role of business in society ... and the strategies and actions that can be used to enhance their positive contribution to the world and its economy, the environment and also achieve sustained commercial success. Also important is taking action and inspiring others to join the collective effort to combat climate change and the impact on vulnerable communities. Specific to my role as Global Director, Water Sustainability at Anheuser-Busch InBev, I lead the company’s global strategy involving corporate water stewardship and I am responsible for environment-related water risks including regulatory, infrastructure, and financial. My focus areas include operational water risk assessments, developing and advancing partnerships for action and public policy engagement, and evaluating supply chain water stress. I oversee water risk assessment for 200+ brewery sites and help develop responsive action plans, and lead the design and strengthening of water partnerships across the group in response to unique local water risks faced in particular geographies, including ecosystem restoration, grey infrastructure, public policy engagement, and institutional strengthening. Ensuring watershed projects are locally relevant, science based and demonstrate measurable improvement in watershed health. Originally from South Africa, I am passionate about developing world challenges and opportunities. Very close connection to the continent and people of Africa. Very privileged to be working across China, India, Zambia, Uganda, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia etc I am particularly interested in driving critical conversations beyond corporate sustainability projects to driving systems change. The intersection of biodiversity and business is an emerging critical juncture worth exploring as we collectively work together to achieve water security and ensure, economic, social, and environmental well-being to all of our communities. I enjoy horizon scanning and looking into the future to identify trends, threats and opportunities based on the large global change drivers such as climate, economics, demographics & consumer insights. Taking early action can be a serious advantage! Personal interests: travel, beer, history, chess, fire-side chats, rhino conservation, reggae.
