About

Since receiving my Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology, I have been focused on understanding and communicating the role of science in society. I'll always be on team fish, but I am currently focused on addressing climate change and the polycrisis. I have worked in startups and taught at universities. I have written for professional journals as well as popular publications like The New Yorker. My book, An Entirely Synthetic Fish, has been praised by readers and reviewers: "With prose as engaging as it is thoughtful, Halverson has crafted an absorbing cautionary tale of ecological trial and error." - Washington Post "Halverson entertainingly introduces some of the most tangled questions in conservation biology" - Science
