My name is Ana Barros, I’m a Public Relations major at The University of Alabama with a minor in Communications and a concentration in Digital Media. I am currently a Public Relations Intern at Strauss PR I support clients by helping triple Instagram engagement, drafting press materials, managing content calendars, and assisting with influencer outreach, editor pitching, and content creation. Summer of 2024, I was a Marketing and Communications Intern at Brown and Brown Insurance. I managed CRM tools like Dynamics 365 and ZoomInfo, launched an HR-focused social media page that is still active today, and gained exposure to consultative marketing through meetings and industry events. These internships have given me a strong foundation in both creative and strategic communication, which I’m excited to build on in a future PR or marketing role.

    As a Public Relations and Digital Media Intern at Strauss PR, I’ve had the opportunity to work hands-on across a variety of clients in the hospitality, food & beverage, and lifestyle industries. My work has included: -Tripling Instagram engagement and reach for client social media accounts. -Assisted with influencer outreach, brand partnerships, and performance reporting. Tracking impressions, reach, and engagement metrics. -Brainstormed competitive, original ideas for client proposals, pop-up concepts, and social media campaigns tailored to brand voice and industry trends. -Managed content calendars, scheduled and published posts, and optimized branded content across Instagram and LinkedIn for clients. -Wrote press releases and contributed to media outreach. -Designed and edited pitch decks, newsletter templates, and internal visual assets to support client and internal communications. -Collaborated on content shoots by building shot lists, filming, and editing. -Conducted outreach and tracked communication with NCAA student athletes for NIL partnerships. Through this role, I’ve gained hands-on experience in media relations, digital content creation, influencer marketing, and campaign development!

Insurance Industry Insight: I attended the Blue Cross Blue Shield Intern Day Event, where I enhanced my understand of the Insurance Industry. Consultative Exposure: I attended a meeting with Workday and Plano City of Excellence where I experienced how a Broker consults an employer. Community Engagement Platform: I created a social media page dedicated to HR Enthusiasts. It served as a comprehensive resource center where professionals can find everything they need to succeed in the workplace. My social media page is still used to this day! Strategic Content Development: I showcased Monthly Content Calendars, Templates, Ads, and Reached out to well known HR Influencers, created a connection, and partnered with them.
