Ana Lara is a Lecturer at the University of Cantabria and a postdoctoral researcher in the ‘ECONPOINT‘ research group, lead by Professors Judith Clifton and Daniel Díaz Fuentes. Ana holds a degree in Economics with a specialization in International Economics, a Master’s in Economics of International Trade and European Integration, a second Master’s in Economics and PhD with international mention in Economics. Her academic excellence has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Enrique Fuentes Quintana Award (FUNCAS) for the best doctoral thesis in social sciences (2018/2019), the Outstanding Doctorate Award from the University of Cantabria (2020), and the Social Council of the University of Cantabria Award for the best doctoral thesis in economic and social sciences (2019). She also secured a competitive postdoctoral scholarship from the Cantabria Parliament and the University of Cantabria (2019). In 2018, Ana was a visiting researcher at the University of Costa Rica, where she collaborated with prominent academics and professionals specialized in international financial institutions. Ana has actively participated in numerous competitive research projects, including ‘Greenpaths‘ (Horizon Europe), ‘EIBURS‘ (funded by the European Investment Bank), ‘CITADEL‘ (H2020 project), and a Santander Financial Institute project on the origins and historical evolution of global banking and finance. She has been involved in the Jean Monnet Module in ‘Economic and Financial System and Regional Development’ (2020-2023), the Jean Monnet Chair on ‘European Economic Policy for Business & Civil Society‘ (2018-2020), and the ‘Jean Monnet Module on European Economic Policy: a citizen perspective’ (2015-2018) at the University of Cantabria. Her additional experience includes a PhD scholarship from the Lombardy Advanced School of Economic Research and working at the Economic and Foreign Trade Department of the Spanish Embassy in Morocco and the French journal of economics, Futuribles. Ana Lara specializes in European integration and International Financial Institutions, focusing on the evaluation of these institutions and the economic policy implications of various funding alternatives. Her expertise also extends to international trade, cohesion policy, and the impact of international financing.
