Making the best of AI and data science to counter organised and subversive crime Within the Center for the Study of Organized and Subversive Crime, Ana Barros will lead a broad research program focusing on the role of AI and data science in fighting subversive crime. This program explores the possibilities and limitations of AI in combating organized crime and increasing the resilience of society. The research includes identifying patterns and anomalies inherent in subversive activities. This allows early detection of emerging subversive trends so that timely interventions (not only repressive ones) can be identified. Given the resilience of subversive crime, the potential of AI to deal with this resilience in an effective and sustainable manner will also be explored.
Involved in a wide scope of military and security operation analysis projects (some of these in an international forum) varying from air defense, personnel planning, irregular warfare, ground combat modeling, command and control, intelligence to logistics modeling, including strategic/operational ammunition requirements. As Principal Scientist she is responsible for encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing and ensuring technical quality of projects and research programs concerning Intelligence, Operational Analysis and Complex Systems.
