As a Social Service Worker graduate in Canada, I am committed to promoting the dignity, well-being, and inclusion of older adults and vulnerable populations. My academic background as a Doctor in Psychology, combined with extensive research in Aging, Quality of Life, and Health, allows me to approach social service practice with evidence-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed principles. During my field placement at Extendicare Guildwood Long-Term Care, I provided psychosocial support, facilitated therapeutic recreational activities, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to meet residents’ mental health and relational needs. This experience strengthened my competencies in gerontology, emotional support, advocacy, and culturally responsive care. I am passionate about applying my skills to support individuals, families, and communities, while promoting ethical practice, resilience, and social inclusion. I actively seek opportunities to connect with professionals in social services, aging care, and mental health to continue learning and contributing meaningfully to the field.
• Provide psychosocial and emotional support to older adults in long-term care, promoting dignity, well-being, and social inclusion. • Assist in therapeutic recreational and social activities that enhance residents’ quality of life and meaningful engagement. • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to address mental health, adjustment, and relational needs using person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
• Taught core Psychology Major courses to over 2,500 alumni. • Earned the maximum level degree for a professor Level “C” awarded to 6% of faculty staff members • Lead +50 bachelor, +20 master, and +10 PhD thesis related to Health Psychology, aging, chronic disease, quality of life and well-being, and cognitive-behavioral intervention.
• Lead over 15 research national project on Aging, Health Psychology, and Quality of Life topic. • Involved in over 70 national and international conferences as outcomes of the researches leaded. • Managed project alliances as a research leader with Mexican healthcare institutions, working with older patients and their families, including clinical practices and online/in-person interventions. • Designed and implemented intervention programs that promote psychological well-being, therapeutic adherence, and social support for older adults, caregivers, and families.
