Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom
I am a Partner in Harper Macleod's Business Development team, based in our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices. I manage and co-ordinate the HM Connect network and, in particular, I am responsible for the operation and development of the network in the East of Scotland. HM Connect is Scotland’s leading referral and support network for high street and rural law firms with over 390 members across Scotland. I am also part of the team that globally manages our relationships with our best friend law firms around the world. Having spent part of my law degree studying at Københavns Universitet, I now coordinate the Denmark country desk as part of Harper Macleod's international offering. As part of the Business Development team, I play in an important role in the identification and implementation of new business opportunities and strategies within the firm and work alongside our Dispute Resolution team to support their work. I have recently served as Legal Director for Netball Scotland, which is the governing body responsible for promoting, organising and developing netball in Scotland from ‘grass roots’ to elite level. I was also a founding Director of the Strathclyde Sirens - Scotland's national franchise in the Vitality Netball Superleague and the country's only semi-professional women's sport team. I am actively involved in activities across the profession. I sit on the Law Society of Scotland’s Regulatory Sub-Committees for both Complaints & Oversight and Practicing Certificates and also teach as part of the Commercial Awareness course on the Diploma in Legal Practice at The University of Glasgow. I will often contribute to events and publications on the subjects of business development, practice management and market issues.
I worked within Thorntons' Litigation team dealing with a varied litigation caseload, with a focus on commercial, family and personal injury actions. I regularly appeared in both the Sheriff and Justice of the Peace courts.
