About

I am an accountant by trade whose career has recently taken an unexpected left-hand turn into industry. For the past year and a half, I’ve worked with Bayside City Council in the Aged and Disability department, establishing robust systems and processes for the expansion into Home Care Packages. Leading a team of 4, capturing both finance and IT improvements I played a pivotal role in the growth of the Packages business from the pilot to the thriving department it is today. I am passionate not only about finance, systems improvement and people management, but I am also heavily involved in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion taking on a role within the Bayside Pride committee and being pivotal in the establishment of the DEI advisory committee. Most recently our team at Bayside beat out 23 other Local Governments to take out the Victorian State championship in the LGMA Management Challenge. Like any accountant worth their salt, I'm almost entirely powered by caffeine. If you meet me, there WILL BE COFFEE. The only piece of machinery I really care about is a decent coffee machine, and maybe also my shortcuts bar - painfully curated over the last 12 years. My experience has been really broad, having spent the first 10 years of my career in public practice, spending some time in Audit, Not-for-profit consulting, Tax, and dabbling in business improvement and some virtual CFO gigs. Most recently I was bought in to a pilot program to establish financial and operational process streamlining for a home care packages business unit within Council with a heavy focus on the incoming Age Care Reforms and planning for the single support at home program coming in 2024/25. I'm pretty friendly - so say hello!

  • Bayside City Council (Sandringham, Victoria, Australia)
    • Aged Care Systems and Processes Lead
      May 2022 - Sep 2023 · 1 yr 5 mos

The job title doesn’t truly encapsulate the broadness of this role. Originally bought in temporarily as part of the initial Home Care Packages pilot, my role was to: - Establish robust systems and processes both financially and operationally as well as establishing viability of the program When the program not only was established to be viable, but also experienced rapid growth my role was expanded to: - Managing a cross-disciplinary team of both finance and IT roles - Stakeholder relationship management across corporate services within council - Financial management, including month end, payroll, debtors, profit and loss, month end processing of journals, budgeting and forecasting, financial modeling including scenario management and strategic planning for the proposed Support at Home Program - Benchmarking and analysis around the performance of the Home Care Packages business, as well as statutory reporting for both the Quarterly and Annual Financial reports - providing monthly reporting to the Governance group, and Project control group - Identifying and execution of opportunities for tech uplift and data insights to streamline operations Additionally, I played a pivotal role in the Bayside Pride Committee with a specific focus on advocating for the now established Diversity Equity and Inclusion advisory committee. I’m an incredibly passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ and Neurodiversity issues. Most recently, I participated in the LGMA Management Challenge, and our team won against 23 other Local Governments in Victoria, and 4th Nationally against teams from around Australia and New Zealand. Our success was credited to robust systems and processes (and a particularly unhinged use of a deck of uno and swim lanes to manage tasks). I’ve excelled in this role, not only because it is a wonderful team, but also because I’ve been able to be creative about solutions and ways of working.
