82nd Airborne, 1st Brigade Combat Team, Fort Bragg, N.C. 9/2011 – 9/2013 Senior Line-medic, Instructor, Brigade Personal Security Detail (PSD) Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan 3/2012 – 9/2012 Lead, mentored, and trained over 800 Soldiers and medics in basic first aid, EMT training, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Responsible for the combat readiness, health, welfare, and discipline of 30 infantrymen. Maintained accountability of over $75,000 in medical equipment; with no losses in a zero defect combat environment. Administered emergency and routine medical treatment to combat and noncombat casualties, including minor surgery and IV fluid and medication administration to stabilize patients on patrol and in a surgical field hospital. Supported a walking blood bank – a unique blood donation system in combat theater that brought blood transfusions to trauma patients within minutes of donation. Conducted over 150 security patrols with over 20 enemy engagements involving effective automatic weapon fire, improvised explosive devices, artillery, and rocket fire with zero loss of friendly forces. Performed routine immunizations and medical examinations. Support the Joint Readiness Training Center in realistic combat pre-deployment training as the light infantry opposing forces battalion.
