About

Hi, I'm Amanda! I am a computational biologist experienced in building pipelines for high-content imaging and spatial omics. I pursued my PhD in the lab of Georg Winter (then at CeMM based in Vienna, Austria), where I developed a morphological profiling approach for discovering molecular glues. Most recently, I completed a traineeship as a bioinformatician at ImmunoQs (based in Singapore) under the Helix Immersion Programme. Currently, I'm building on software engineering and bioinformatics skills through pet projects and self-learning. I am seeking opportunities globally to apply my experience in bioinformatics and full-stack development to global R&D teams.

Experience

  • Bioinformatics Scientist at ImmunoQs
    Nov 2024 - Nov 2025 · 1 yr 1 mo

    • Technical consulting: acted as a consultant and data analyst for 10+ clinical projects, translating biological questions into analytical workflows and visualizations. • Pipeline automation: Designed and deployed high-throughput spatial omics pipeline (SAW v7/8), ensuring data integrity across multi-technology datasets. • Product development: Implemented key QC visualizations for the "ImmunoThreshold" platform to improve service scalability.

  • Pre-doctoral Fellow (Georg Winter lab) at CeMM
    Sep 2019 - Dec 2023 · 4 yrs 4 mos

    • Assay innovation: Engineered and led the development of the isogenic Cell Painting assay, the first morphological profiling method for identifying molecular glues. • Computational workflows: Architected a high-performance computing-compatible pipeline using cellpose v2 and CellProfiler for image segmentation and feature extraction from high-content imaging screens. • Multivariate statistical analysis: Devised a novel feature selection strategy for employing Kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient for robust morphological comparison across different cell lines. • Insight generation: Applied network analysis to investigate compound bioactivities, leading to the discovery and validation of a novel molecular glue.

  • Honours Year Project (Fumio Motegi lab) at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory
    Aug 2018 - Jul 2019 · 1 yr

    • Carried out an RNAi screen in Caenorhabditis elegans, which identified a suppressor of PAR-1 involved in early organism development • Observed the effect of the supressor using spinning disc confocal microscopy • Analysed images in ImageJ using a customised macro and Python script

  • Undergraduate Research Assistant (Holger Wille lab) at Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, University of Alberta
    May 2017 - Jul 2017 · 3 mos

    • Synthesised non-infectious prion mimics of deer chronic wasting disease (CWD) prions for use in raising antibodies against CWD prions

  • Youth Research Programme (Yugen Zhang lab) at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research
    Mar 2015 - Jul 2015 · 5 mos

    • Synthesised boronic esters, carbamates and oxa-aza-borolans for the development of a novel peptide synthesis method
