Rotates between the Performing Arts Library (24 hours per week), Architecture Library (8 hours per week), and Fashion Library (8 hours per week) providing operational and public services support to the head of each branch library. Responsibilities at the Performing Arts Library include: - Manages the daily operations, including maintenance of facilities, technology, and stacks. - Provides user-centered reference, circulation, and course reserve services. - Serves as Personal Librarian to undergraduate music, theatre, and dance majors. - Develops and presents information literacy and bibliographic instruction. - Contributes to the management and acquisition of collections. - Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student assistants. - Serves as Liaison Librarian to the Kent/Blossom Music Festival and Porthouse Theatre Academies. Responsibilities at the Architecture and Fashion Libraries include: - Learning operational systems to provide scheduled and back-up coverage for the Heads of the Architecture and Fashion Libraries. - Learning architecture and fashion discipline related information resources, including collections, online resources, and special materials. - Assists with special projects as needed.
Managed the daily operations of the Kent State University Performing Arts Library. Responsibilities included: - Developed and managed Personal Librarian Program and served as Personal Librarian to undergraduate music, theatre, and dance majors. - Provided user-centered reference, circulation, and course reserves services. - Developed and presented information literacy and bibliographic instruction. - Contributed to the management and acquisition of collections. - Liaison Librarian to the Kent/Blossom Music Festival and Porthouse Theatre Academy summer programs. - Hired, trained, supervised, and evaluated student assistants. - Maintained library facilities, technology, and stacks. - Managed website and social media presences and developed marketing materials to promote library services, events, and facilities. - Evaluated the library’s operations, resources, and materials processing. - Assisted in planning for and running outreach and engagement events. - Supervised the collection and analysis of statistics. - Co-edited and published four volumes of Excellence in Performing Arts Research Journal containing award winning papers presented during the Colloquium Series using the Digital Commons platform.
While the Head of the Performing Arts Library was on sabbatical, my additional responsibilities included: - Liaison Librarian to the School of Music and School of Theatre and Dance. - Managed all operations, as well as collection development, and collection management activities. - Planned and ran outreach and engagement events. - Managed Prague Quadrennial Exhibit. - Managed reservation system for adjacent Mac Lab Computer Classroom.
- Inventoried, created annotated index, and developed finding aid for the Robert Shaw letters. - Conducted and transcribed an oral history interview.
Provided public service assistance, including reference, circulation and computing support. Processed new and repaired older library materials and provided stacks maintenance. Assisted the Children’s Librarian with special programs, including the annual summer reading program and weekly story times for children.
