  • COVID Economic Recovery Intern at Resilient Cities Catalyst
    Jun 2020 - Aug 2020 · 3 mos

During my internship with Resilient Cities Catalyst, I explored feasible models of neighborhood governance and sustainable funding mechanisms to develop recommendations for a “Neighborhood Improvement District” in Brownsville, Brooklyn. I also provided support on four large virtual convenings over Zoom, accounting for technical difficulties and taking notes for review. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with data analysis this summer. I compiled and synthesized county-level data on the public health and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to pinpoint regions whose data displayed interesting patterns or held compelling narratives. Furthermore, I created surveys to be distributed to Tampa city officials to evaluate their priorities in promoting systems-level change and synthesized the results for use by the Mayor’s office.

While working at Open Society Foundations, I collaborated with the Senior Officer for Research at the Open Society Justice Initiative, organizing informational reports on strategic litigation regarding human rights and climate change. In this work, I synthesized documents on climate change to identify potential points of entry for litigation against breaches of climate agreements. Additionally, I generated memos to familiarize senior members of the Justice Initiative with context for the International Bar Association’s annual conference and developed a broader worldview through researching and writing two original blog posts on new human rights judgments in Southern Africa.
