Recent recipients of Rose d’Or Special Awards include Brian Cox, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Sir David Attenborough, Maren Kroymann, Brenda Blethyn, Omar Sy, Ricky Gervais, Ncuti Gatwa, Daisy Edgar Jones, Yasmin Finney, Joanna Lumley, James Corden, Angela Lansbury, Jan Böhmermann and John Cleese.
Baritone Alvar Tiisler has performed with orchestras like Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Chamber Orchestra in Moscow's Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Israel Chamber Orchestra, Israel Camerata, Sinfonietta Riga, Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra, Barrocade Ensemble, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and Estonian Sinfonietta. As a soloist, his performed repertoire includes J.S. Bach's "St John Passion", "St Matthew Passion", "Christmas Oratorio", "Mass in B minor”, "Magnificat" and many cantatas, also Händel's "Messiah", "Jephtha”, „Theodora”, „Judas Maccabeus”, "Esther”, "Resurrezione", "Israel in Egypt", "Dixit Dominus", Mozart’s „Requiem” and „C Minor Mass”, Haydn’s „Creation”, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mendelssohn’s „Elijah”, Charpentier's "Te Deum", Purcell's "Hail! Bright Cecilia" and MacMillan’s 5th Symphony. He has also collaborated with MusicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis which included live concert in Sainte-Chapelle for Mezzo and ARTE TV. He has performed as a soloist and with various ensembles in United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Israel, Russia and almost everywhere in Europe. This summer, he will record his first album with British tenor Guy Cutting for Brilliant Classics label which includes music of Händel and Bach.
All-rounder in Estonian Public Broadcasting sports department. Starting as a radio sports journalist moved to Estonian National Television at the age 20. On-screen work include presenting and editing daily sports news, play-by-play and live commentaries from various sporting events, studio host for major events. Producing tasks include IBU Biathlon World Cup/World Championships and FIFA World Cup/UEFA EURO's.
