Graduated High School 2004 and joined the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades apprenticeship. First job was painting bridges. Finished apprenticeship, started leading crews, became Foreman, then Estimating projects, then to General Foreman. Spent 12+ years in the painting trades before taking a position with the District Council in November of 2016. Ive been representing members and non members, educating the workforce on their rights. Just recently negotiated a 5 year agreement with the best raises we’ve had in 10 years even during slow work times and a pandemic. I’ve always and always will put the members best interest first, a union is about everyone not yourself. It’s about lifting the tides to better everyone’s lives. Like my father always said, “God gave everyone two hands to make money with, but one day they will break down and then what will you rely on?” Everyone deserves better wages, but without Health Insurance and Retirement, workers will never prosper.
