I'm an experienced dance educator, musician, researcher and movement-interactive programmer. My primary objective is a regular full-time position preferably in the New York City area teaching music-related dance courses, accompanying modern dance and ballet classes, and composing/programming for dance performances; in lieu of that my secondary objectives are full-time or part-time regular or temporary jobs doing some combination of the same. My main area of research is the relationship between dance and music, including: (1) the structural designs of choreographers and composers, such as those of Balanchine and Stravinsky, Cunningham and Cage, or Beyoncé as both choreographer and songwriter; (2) the moment by moment perception of congruity between movement and sound by audiences as they watch dance; (3) the practice of accompanying dance training and performance with music that supports various qualities in the given movement sequence; and (4) the composition and design of movement-interactive music software programs for dance and installations in Max/MSP/Jitter. These interests are reflected in the papers and presentations listed at my personal website under the link "Words" and in my work as an accompanist and composer for dance, videos and installations. An additional research area for me is the use of randomness in generating artistic material. This is explored in a number of programming projects using Max, Matlab and JMSL, listed at my personal website under the link "Randomness in Music."
