About

I help ambitious leaders build braver, more aware, high-performing teams. My zone of genius is delivering energising 9/10-scoring workshops and keynotes. Trusted by the most ambitious brands, including Google, L’Oréal, Bumble, WPP, Publicis, Ocado, Tesco, Bloom & Wild, Deliveroo, Gousto, McDonald’s, OVO Energy and more. My training helps teams unleash the badassery that makes everything possible. Badassery?! It’s the one-of-a-kind magic that makes each of us formidably impressive — bolder, bigger, more us. That’s how you unlock high performance. I call it R.O.I – Return on Individual™. It’s what’s you need to get your most important asset - your people, obvs - firing on all cylinders. So they can: * Tame imposter syndrome * Harness psychological safety * Nurture courageous conversations * Navigate change * Craft career happiness * Kickass with confidence I’m a TEDx speaker, have a by-line in The Times, mum of two girls and Zumba enthusiast. But it didn’t always look like this. Before starting Badass Unicorn, I spent a decade in marketing, including spearheading international marketing at Deliveroo in its hay day. I felt like the dogs at the time… Big job at the Financial Times 2018 fast-growing company. A cool brand to humble brag about at dinner parties. But behind the scenes? I was floundering. Until then, charisma and hard work had got me pretty far in marketing. But it started not to be enough… Yes, the pace was relentless and expectations were sky-high. But others were keeping up. It was more than that… In truth, the demands of marketing had eclipsed me. Suddenly, I’d gone from cruising. To what felt like 80 miles an hour in first gear trying to not to get found out. But I did. I know what happened now. I had become misaligned with my strengths. Commercial marketing at a tech company was all spreadsheets and cohort analysis. That wasn’t what energised me. I was brilliant at running offsites. Public speaking. Storytelling. Radical candor. Then came the plot twist. I was demoted. A director was hired above me to do the job I used to defined me. At the time, it felt like career suicide. But it became the corner stone of everything I now teach. Today, I train teams to unleash their own brand of badassery with an attitude of fortitude. • Deliveroo (4 yrs 3 mos)
    • People Strategy & Development Manager
      Oct 2019 - Jun 2020 · 9 mos

Building on my strengths, purpose and a 10+ year career in Marketing, I pivoted my career to build and deliver Deliveroo's global people experience strategy. During my tenure, I built out an all-company levelling framework, redesigned onboarding for a remote world and delivered learning myself through workshops that consistently scored 9/10 in feedback. I worked for Deliveroo 4 days a week to dedicate a day to build (what was then) my personal development side hustle.. and now my full time business!

    • Senior Manager, EU Marketing
      Sep 2017 - Oct 2019 · 2 yrs 2 mos

I oversaw the company’s regional marketing strategy when Deliveroo was crowned the Financial Times’s '18 fastest growing company. The key to thriving in a Unicorn ($1 bn) company is to evolve with the velocity of change - working in a start-up success story is every bit the rollercoaster analogy often used to describe it with countless thrills to enjoy and challenges to grow and learn from. During my time in the role, I demonstrated loyalty and resilience by remaining at Deliveroo following a challenging team restructure (read more about it in the attached Medium piece). As the Learning & Development lead for Marketing, I Initiated a learning needs analysis to align the leadership team on high priority initiatives, including a virtual 20-hour digital marketing training series, self-reflection workshops for our interns and created a squad of local "L&D Champions". I also doubled penetration for one of Deliveroo's key marketing channels - In-site Merchandise - by leveraging marketing and commercial teams...I even dressed up in a kangaroo suit at a firmware to do it.

    • International Marketing Manager
      Apr 2016 - Sep 2017 · 1 yr 6 mos

Joining Deliveroo at it closed its Series D fundraise to help build the rocketship as it began to take off has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. During this period, I was the key lynchpin between our Leadership team, international countries (GMs & Heads of Marketing) and HQ marketing, supporting the teams to deliver exponential growth and key initiatives like our rebrand.

  • Marketing Manager at Whitbread
    May 2014 - Apr 2016 · 2 yrs

I learnt a lot about myself during my time at Beefeater Restaurants. It was here that my thirst of learning & development kicked off thanks to the huge investment that the FTSE 100 made in its people. I relished my experience at Beefeater as I developed my craft as a generalist marketer and lead a team of two delivering the brand's commercial marketing plan.

    • Senior Account Manager
      Mar 2013 - Apr 2014 · 1 yr 2 mos

During my tenure at Cherry London, I was lucky to work with some great global brands and partners, including Simple Skincare (Unilever), Adidas, Asics and O2 to build mutually-beneficial partnership campaigns. I took the initiative to increase client retainers, set up new business pitches and built the Cherry internship programme.

    • Account Manager
      Jul 2012 - Mar 2013 · 9 mos

Cherry London is a thriving marketing agency which specialises in partnerships where I immediately felt at home. In my time at the agency, I developed the foundational building blocks required for a career in marketing. Here, I honed my pitching, negotiation and rapport-building skills as I learnt from situations I found challenging but grew huge amounts from.

  • Brand and Marketing Manager at Iconic Images Ltd
    Jan 2010 - Jul 2012 · 2 yrs 7 mos

I kickstarted my career working for the internationally renowned photographer, Terry O’Neill CBE. It was here I learnt to make the most of any opportunity you're presented with - I started getting the coffees and as "Head of FedEx" but thanks to my hard work and initiative-taking I progressed to directing his global exhibitions, launching and overseeing his global licensing programme and managing his communications. One of my proudest achievements was getting Terry on the front page of the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.
