Lead design for a variety of experiences across Square's Point of Sale products. My projects spanned multiple product teams, surface areas, and were used by hundreds of millions of people. Some key product areas that I focused on included the entire checkout experience for both buyers and sellers, onboarding & POS setup, pricing & packaging, and settings. I worked closely with cross functional partners on a daily basis, and I also acted as an internal design consultant and collaborator on projects owned by other teams to ensure that new designs contributed to (and didn't detract from) a consistent, effective, and innovative point of sale experience regardless of which POS mode a seller or buyer was using.
Lead product design on Square's Web Point of Sale team for their Virtual Terminal product: a point of sale solution that turns your computer into a credit card terminal. Worked closely with PMs, EMs, data scientists, and engineers to modernize and expand Virtual Terminal’s capabilities and create a more fully-featured, web-based POS experience for sellers of all types and sizes. Conducted seller interviews and feedback sessions to ensure that we were tackling the most common and important problems that our sellers faced, and routinely discovered new and exciting things about Virtual Terminal sellers that were completely unique to our product.
Lead the product and brand functions at Paddle HR and strived to create a career mobility and development platform that helped employees develop their skills and reach their career goals. Regularly updated the Paddle app with the intent of delivering features that were surprising, delightful, and provided the highest possible customer impact. Owned the product roadmap and worked with customers and users to ensure their top priorities were worked into the platform. Oversaw all design-related output across the company including the app, the corporate website, internal and external marketing materials, and customer-facing materials. Ran user testing sessions and customer workshops, and iteratively refined Paddle's look, feel, voice, and tone.
Worked part-time at Paddle HR to lead their product design function. My weekly activities included user research, mood boarding, design brainstorming, wireframing, user testing, and all product design work for the Paddle app. I also spent lots of time working closely with the Engineering team to ensure that all product design work was translated properly into our code-base and that all interactions in the platform were as seamless and intuitive as possible.
Operated as an owner and leader of Top Hat’s digital brand by overseeing all changes to the corporate website and elevating and polishing Top Hat’s design direction and code-base. Designed and developed hundreds of pages for tophat.com and their other digital properties. Strategized with product and demand generation teams to launch, create, and test new UI/UX ideas and products. Managed another Interaction Designer and Developer and served as a design mentor and career development partner.
Established an authority over the digital brand of Top Hat and worked with a variety of teams in the organization to iteratively elevate the company's website and digital presence. Migrated the tophat.com website to an entirely new codebase: making it faster, more efficient, and easier to work with. Redesigned and developed many high-performing areas of tophat.com including the home page, teaching resources, blog, and hundreds of landing pages. Collaborated with visual designers, product designers, and demand generation specialists to experiment with new design directions for our website, social ads, traditional media, on-campus collateral, and more. Received the "Marketing Team Unsung Hero" award in 2018 for having a significant impact on the team and the organization within my first year at Top Hat.
Worked closely with my C.D. to overhaul the company’s primary brand and product identities. Contributed to all of ITRG’s flagship products as both an Interaction Designer and a Front-End Developer. Led UI/UX design projects for both infotech.com and softwarereviews.com.
