I worked in Dr. Matt Johnson's Neuromodulation Research and Technology Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Johnson's lab focuses on improving neuromodulation therapies for neurological disorders like deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's Disease . My PhD dissertation work focused on a novel characterization of gait dysfunction, and the associated change in neural firing patterns, in a preclinical animal model of Parkinson’s disease. Additionally, I explored the therapeutic effects of deep brain stimulation on spatiotemporal gait parameters and neural activity in the mesencephalic locomotor region. I specialized in neurophysiology and behavioral analysis, execution of large-scale scientific projects and personal management.

Worked in the laboratory of Dr. Mortimer Mishkin. Researched the neural mechanisms of rhesus macaque vocalization production and perception. I learned how to collect cortical-level local field potentials and surgical techniques in a non-human primate.
