Investing in top tier PE funds across Europe and the US on behalf of Entrepreneurs
Since joining Main in summer 2022, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to enjoy an incredible journey, presented with the challenge of helping to establish Main’s first office in the US, working on the firm's first two US platform investments, and building out a network in a new, large, and dynamic geography. I am extremely grateful for all I have learned during this time, with the amazing support and mentorship from everyone at Main Capital, especially the members of the US team. Despite these rewarding experiences, after much consideration, rather than relocating to the US full-time, I have decided to remain in the Netherlands, where I have established personal and professional roots. Before seeking out my next step, I decided to take time to travel through South America, offering me the opportunity to develop myself both professionally and personally in a new environment. This journey gave me time to take a break from my routine and reflect, but equally importantly presented me with the opportunity to immerse myself in the vibrant landscapes, rich culture, and natural beauty that the region has to offer. Following this once in a lifetime journey, I've been grateful for time and flexibility to identify a role that perfectly fits my ambitions professionally and culturally, and where I'm excited to leverage my experience. In the meantime I've had the opportunity to spend unforgetable time with friends and loved ones and finish building my house.
As part of the Main Capital Partners US team, I have supported establishing Main's presence in the US market and office in Boston. My key responsibilities on the investment side have included market mapping and identification of potential opportunities, sourcing and introductions with leaders of bootstrapped North American software businesses, due diligence, and portfolio management. I have also had the opportunity to support our Investor Relations team in identifying and connecting with new potential partners/funders.
As part of the Wilshire Private Markets team, I invested in Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Private Credit co-investments, secondaries, and primaries across Europe. Across these, managers ranged from small-cap to mega funds, with strong focus on opportunities in the (lower) mid-market.
PGGM is one of Europe’s largest institutional investors with AuM of approximately €220bn. The Private Equity team at PGGM manages a global portfolio of roughly €12bn and invests close to €3bn annually across private equity funds, co-investments and secondary transactions. The team has a cross-functional and sector-agnostic approach, which promotes exposure to a variety of investment types, geographies, and industries. In my role at PGGM PE, I have contributed to the following types of investments: - Funds: US, European, Asian and African large buyout, mid-market and growth segments - Secondaries: GP-led transactions - Co-investments: Equity commitments between €20-150m in the Packaging, Healthcare / MedTech, Security, Education, Insurance, TMT, Consumer, and Energy Services sectors.
