Responsible for serving guests at the front desk (greeting, answering inquiries & requests, checking in and checking out, managing guest folios) while providing the highest level of service possible in an efficient, courteous and professional manner. Accepting payment for guests accounts, maintaining house bank, currency exchange, and ensuring accurate reporting of daily activities. Assist concierge in handling mail and providing guests with information regarding hotel facilities and local attractions. Manage incoming calls and book new reservations.
Collaborate with agents and required team members to handle guest requirements and requests from pre-arrival through check-out. Report facility and room maintenance problems to appropriate personnel for immediate remediation. Use quick response and dynamic service skills to build relationships with patrons and de-escalate complaints, improving customer relations. Oversee fast-paced from desk operations at busy facility with as many as 1800 nighty guests.
WUSC is currently implementing the Student Refugee Program (SRP) in Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Malawi with support from the UNHCR. The Program aims to assist young refugees whose education was interrupted due to war to be resettled and to pursue their post-secondary education in Canada. To date, over 1800 refugee students have gone to Canada to study and start a new life through the SRP, of which over 250 have come from Malawi. Duties include conducting Canadian Life courses and pre-departure orientation for SRP 2019/2020 cohort. Assist in the coordination of the completion of immigration process, medical check-up, police clearance and other requirements for the students who are selected for the program. Organize a graduation ceremony for SRP 2019/2020 cohort. Support the World Refugee Day presentation of the SRP students in the camp and assist program officer with administrative support as required.
