Research Assistant in the Molecular Pathways and Genomics Laboratory led by Dr. Kimberly Dobrinski Research presented regionally at the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (2024), and internationally at the American Society of Human Genetics (2024). Team Leader of the Zebrafish Project where genomic changes were monitored in obese versus controlled conditions. Zebrafish were used as a model organism for human disease. The project aimed to compare changes on a genomic level between experimental groups that contribute to the manifestation of obesity associated diseases including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hypertension, Type II diabetes, etc. The team identified and compared molecular markers between experimental groups including CpG methylation status, transcription levels, copy number variants, immune regulation, and expression quantitative trait Loci. The team was lead through raising experimental groups, harvesting genomic data, identifying molecular changes, and determining statistical significance and subsequent physiological implications.
