First Class BSc Psychology graduate working at BIS Services, delivering tailored cognitive rehabilitation support with a commitment to empowering individuals in regaining function and maximising independence.
As a Cognitive Rehabilitation Assistant at BIS Services, I support clients with acquired brain injuries and resulting cognitive difficulties to rebuild independence and reintegrate into their communities. I assist in delivering tailored rehabilitation programmes, working with clients and experienced multidisciplinary teams to implement functional skill transfer, domain-specific retraining, fatigue management, and mindfulness interventions. I help clients apply learned strategies in daily life, engage in social, vocational, and leisure activities, and adapt support to their individual needs and goals.
Helped create a supportive and non-judgemental environment for peers to openly share their experiences, emotions and challenges during a 12-week course of weekly, hour long meetings. Used a variety of #Me resources (logbooks, videos, and coping strategies) to encourage self-awareness, develop emotional resilience and to further my knowledge on mental health topics. Provided regular check-ins during the week to keep students updated and engaged. Developed my leadership, time management and organisational skills as well as building on how to be inclusive, approachable and actively listen.
