I am currently teaching 7th grade ELAR in Denton ISD. I am a 2023 graduate of the University of North Texas having successfully earned an undergraduate BA degree in English with a concentration in Literature, with a minor in Biological Sciences, and a certification in Trauma-Informed Care.
Provided students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Presented subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines. Worked cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to IEPs. Used ongoing formal and informal assessments to plan instructional activities. Managed student behavior and administered discipline according to board policies. Maintained professional communication with parents, principals, and teachers.
As a Daily Sub, utilized curriculum and notes provided by the absentee teacher to support student success. As a Long Term Sub, developed and delivered lesson plans and instructional material for Principles of Health Science and Counseling & Mental Health courses. Assigned and graded assignments. Applied classroom management techniques to encourage student involvement. Used Canvas LMS and Teacher Access Center to manage grades, attendance, and referrals.
Supervised and supported over 300 high school students (ages 14-18) with Student & Residence Life activities. Provided academic and personal support. Advised a student-led organization. Performed nightly room checks on a community of 20 residents to ensure safety and well-being.
Led live Welcome sessions and Course Registration Assistance for Spring Orientation. Welcomed new students and families. Assisted with recruitment of 30 new Orientation Team members.
