Partos is the Dutch national association of civil society organisations active in international development cooperation. As its director, my task was to strengthen the platform function and the services the association offers to its 120 member organisations. Instrumental to that was the forging of structural relationships with business and government. Equally important was helping the sector be publicly represented in such a way that Dutch society continues to be proud of the efforts we make for a just, prosperous, and sustainable world for all.
Starting up and running this entrepreneurial charity was an amazing experience. KidsRights supports children's projects in a.o. South Africa and India, focusing on the empowerment and the future of vulnerable children. The Foundation is the initiator and organizer of the International Children's Peace Prize, which is awarded annually by a Nobel Peace Laureate to an extraordinary child who's made a difference for this world (see Wikipedia and www.childrenspeaceprize.org). From the start, KidsRights has been unique in its cooperation with the business community. Since retiring as Executive Director late 2009, I continued to serve as board member. When I left the board late 2011, I was honored to be appointed the first 'honorary board member'.
