Qualified Event Manager with 14+ years’ experience on high-profile events including the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, 2018 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, Looe Music Festival 2012-17 and, most recently, engaging in various projects in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Responsible for scheduling, planning, and delivery of events in venues across three government-led projects: Aspire Zone, Supreme Committee & Ministry of Sports & Youth. Responsible for scheduling, events, and operations of all FIFA Training Sites. Leadership team member of the event management arm of the largest sports facility management entity in Qatar. Provided contractor, subcontractor and supplier management for event overlay and venue management requirements for the project management team for the FIFA Club World Cup 2019, Arabian Gulf Cup 2019, CAF Cup 2020 and test events in all existing and newly commissioned Qatar 2022 stadiums.
• Accountable for the management of key contracts as part of a commodity focused approach to overlay planning, design, and build. • Oversaw design for Overlay temporary infrastructure and Venue Operations ensuring critical stakeholder requirements were fulfilled and optimised. • Direct liaison to the Broadcast function for tournament-wide infrastructure requirements ensuring compliance and smooth operations. Exhibited strong leadership in handling all project requirements for Overlay planning and delivery for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and AFC U23 tournaments. Key responsibilities included directing design management, commercial planning & procurement, and scheduling & programming in addition to overseeing the delivery phase. By effectively coordinating these aspects, ensured the successful execution of both tournaments while adhering to quality standards and meeting stakeholder expectations. Responsibilities included capturing and processing FA requirements in designs and budgets, managing delivery teams, and overseeing the Overlay Delivery Programme. In addition to supporting the technical information flow for the broadcast function for all sites, I also supervised daily operations of contractors across all sites and ensured strict compliance with relevant laws, AFC requirements, and local regulations.
• Pivotal involvement in Technical, Commercial, and Project Management disciplines for FIFA World Cup Overlay. • Developed a range of custom solutions and commodities to fit specific tournament requirements. • Directed external Design & Architecture resources across venue workstreams ensuring technical compliance and programme compliance for infrastructure and operational delivery. Developed and presented the Overlay delivery, legacy, and financial strategies to the Qatar Government leadership. Liaison to third-party consultants during FIFA Arab Cup test phase to aid with the development of a finalised integrated delivery strategy. Championed an optimisation programme to ensure sustainable design was implemented across all event sites. Contributed to establishing a change management programme to manage evolving design lifecycles and delivery constraints. Central in the management of all project phases for Overlay planning and delivery for the FIFA Arab Cup 2021 & FIFA World Cup 2022 including design management, contract development, procurement, scheduling & programming, delivery, operations & maintenance, decommissioning, bump-out and reinstatement.
• Complex team management at world’s largest indoor sports arena • Project lead on multiple major international events • Coordinated delivery of Qatar’s largest official Fan Zone for FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 Centrepoint for event project management, and day-to-day operations including security and housekeeping, internal events, and all external stakeholders. Led team overseeing the precinct containing the world’s largest indoor sports arena operations including FIFA 2* indoor football pitch, Olympic swimming/diving pools and athletics arenas. Project lead for multiple events such as Doha Goals Conference, Al Kass International Cup, and Tour of Qatar Cycling. Managed precinct wide programmes for ‘National Sports Days’, and with FIFA on projects testing natural grass turf and the new VAR system for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Coordinated complex custom design and fabrication for overlay, live sound and video production management, and operations to host 80,000+ at Qatar FIFA 2018 World Cup FanZone.
