As a Data Engineer I maintained my previous workload but also started to focus on real-time data pipelines and the Data Lake, using technologies such as Apache Nifi, Apache Airflow, Apache Hudi, Elasticsearch, Redshift Spectrum, AWS Lambda, Jenkins, Spark Streaming and containerization technologies like Docker/Kubernetes.
Part of the Data Platform team focusing mainly on the Data Warehouse. Responsible for developing and maintaining Batch ETL loads with Talend Big Data Platform, handling large and complex data sets from multiple sources and formats inside the Data Warehouse, whilst automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and collaborating with stakeholders ranging from business to internal and external technical teams from the beginning to the delivery of a project. Work mainly with the AWS ecosystem including Amazon Redshift, Athena, Glue, S3, RDS, SES, DynamoDB, etc. Work on projects from all aspects of the Gaming Industry including: Product (Casino, Sportsbook and Free to Play Products), Marketing Acquisition and Retention, Retail, Finance, Operations (Customer Support, Payments, AML, RG) and Compliance. Interact with different source and destination systems ranging from SQL and NoSQL Systems (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, Athena, Redshift, S3, DynamoDB), CRM tools such as Emarsys and Saleforce, ERP such as Microsoft Navision, Google Analytics (BigQuery), and many other 3rd party APIs and tools.
As part of the Data Warehouse team I had the following responsibilities: - Developing, optimizing and automating queries for data extraction and ad-hoc reporting; - Implementation and optimization of ETL workflows for DWH loads using Talend and Alteryx; - Data discrepancy investigation and reconciliation; - Exposing data for reporting layers using Tableau and Pentaho; - Understanding business requirements by consulting with different departments; - Writing documentation for DWH processes, Standard Operating Procedures and Functional Design Documents; - Performing and documenting test plans for every task; Other technologies used include: Amazon Redshift, InfiniDB, MySQL, JIRA, GIT, SVN.
I am a co-founder of THATSpace (ShakeBench), an award-winning start-up which aims to revolutionize the concept of remote working. As a Developer I was responsible for the technical aspect of the platform, including database architecture and administration, back-end and front-end development and infrastructure management.
