Alexander Mueller | Industrial Design Alexander has built an impressive body of experience through the design of consumer and industrial products with a specialty in the patient-focused fields of medical and laboratory product development. He has built an impressive body of experience through the design of a wide variety of consumer and industrial products, with a specialty in the fields of medical and laboratory devices. Alexander credits his rigorous methodology to his study of Industrial Design at the Muthesius Hochschule in Kiel, Germany. Rounding out his core studies, he was accepted to study at the prestigious Macintosh School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland where he concentrated his study through the school of Digital Design Studio. After a short stint a visiting Associate Professor with the Rhein-Sieg-Akademie, Alexander began working to improve user and patient experiences including the design of complex user experiences with clients such as Siemens, Draeger Medical, Sartorius Stedim Biotech, I.E.M., GE-Appliances, Oster, Otis, Sunbeam, Johnson & Johnson and Smith & Nephew. Alexander feels that listening has become his super power for developing successful products, capable of transposing complex matters into highly visualized possibilities. Earlier in his career path, Alexander was Cofounder of the Corpus-C Design Agentur, co-leading the design team with an everyday focus on customer satisfaction. Before that, he worked at the designaffairs GmbH, first as design manager and later on as key account manager for the Draeger Medical client. Alexander started his professional design career in 1998 at Fitch/ Boston and his work has culminated into numerous awards including IDEA, RedDot, and iF/ International Forum Design GmbH.

This year, the international, independent iF jury panel consists of a total of 98 high profile design experts from over 20 nations. Their task and challenge is to award the submitted contributions with the most innovative power – and perhaps to find the next rising star in the design industry. The iF jurors’ task is to give the participants of the iF DESIGN AWARD the most in-depth feedback possible on their submissions. This year they are working for the first time with a newly developed digital iF jury tool, with which a detailed assessment of each entry is recorded and made available to the participants. Their intercultural background boosts the expert discussions and thus ensures the independence of the jury groups. A different mix of experts is invited as jurors each year. This ensures the independence of the jury and brings in fresh perspectives. Design is changing and so should the jury.
