I am a Planning Manager at the TJX Companies, Inc., with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in both Operations and Information Management and Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. I have gained valuable skills and learned from new perspectives through internships at Real Salt Lake, the New England PGA Junior Tour, and at TJX, working in one of their Marshalls distribution centers. I hope to continue building my skills as I progress further in my career, and apply what I have learned both inside and outside the classroom in an engaging and exciting work environment.
At one of Marshalls distribution centers, I co-supervised 25 second-shift associates responsible for ticketing and selecting merchandise to 240 Marshalls stores. I utilized a variety of strategies to help solve daily problems including missing merchandise, incorrectly labeled orders, and errors with paperwork, among many others. Effective communication was key, as I oversaw a diverse associate workforce, many of whom spoke little or no English, to ensure that tasks were completed accurately. I also assisted in leading a significant departmental method change, which required change management, extensive planning, organization, and attention to detail. Finally, I had to establish and maintain relationships with other supervisors in order to maximize efficiency and meet productivity goals for the distribution center.
Worked as an intern with the New England PGA to plan, coordinate, and execute over 30 junior golf tournaments in the Summer of 2018. This included using BlueGolf software to register competitors, create pairings, and organize other logistics before the tournaments, running the actual events on site, as well as occasionally assisting with administrative duties in the NEPGA offices in Boylston, MA.
Was part of the team that changed over the Mullins Center on the UMass Amherst campus for basketball and hockey games, concerts, and other events. Gained valuable teamwork and communication skills, and learned about what it actually takes to run a facility efficiently.
Spent time in the stadium operations, corporate partnerships, and team administration departments as an intern at Real Salt Lake. Main duties included helping prepare stadium for games, reading and proofreading contracts, learning and participating in the sponsorship recruitment process, observing the decisions made by the GM and VP of Soccer Administration when it comes to building the team, among others.
