As a researcher at Elemetal I had a lot of freedom to learn about lab tests. And also to perform tests and learn about the working principles of the tests. It usually works likes this; Step 1: What do you want to know? Step 2: Come up with a way to test for desired parameters/results Step 3: check with senior researcher whether my proposed method will work and if it will be likley to generate reliable results. So far I worked on a variety of tests for extraction of metals from bottom ash. Parameters for which the tests are designed include permeability, porosity, compaction, leaching, agglomeration, liquid content and a lot more.
