Alexander Gillen

Guitar Technician for Weezer

Los Angeles, California, United States

About

I am a Filipino-American guitarist who recently relocated to Los Angeles to experience and participate in the vibrant art & music scene. I earned a Master’s Degree in Music Pedagogy from Texas Woman’s University under the internationally-recognized guitarist, Carlo Pezzimenti. Playing across the US and Europe with many national touring acts, I have been fortunate enough to experience many different avenues for music-making, as a solo, orchestra pit, big band, rock, and studio musician. Completely fascinated with guitar gear (both old and new, acoustic, electric, classical), constantly researching tone, amps, and the latest pedals and effects. I love to experience and perform music from many different cultures and regions. Therefore, I feel comfortable teaching a wide variety of styles (classical, jazz, rock, metal, bossanova, Filipino kundiman, etc.). I always strive to use my medium to observe, explore, and celebrate different cultures as well as my own.
