Research engineering position at a large High Value Manufacturing Catapult (HVMC) centre, enabling the local and international proliferation of material system, part design and manufacturing technology development for composites. Based in the High Volume Manufacturing team within the Automation capability group, my work found me involved in process development for technology across a range of TRL levels, involving demonstration at a scale and rate encouraging to industrial adoption. Specific duties included: - Literature survey; analysis of existing and state-of-the-art activities in order justify approach to specific technical challenges. - Development of NCC engineering capability in light of demands set by industry and future engineering needs. - Completion of tasks to support project requirements via application and analysis of mathematical and scientific theory, and performance of practical tasks to complete a range of technical activities in complex and non-routine circumstances. - Assistance and mentoring of Graduate Research Engineers and Associate Research Engineers with theoretical applications. - Active technical and non-technical engagement with customers, stakeholders and suppliers, with a focus on the enhancement of working relationships. - Pursuit of opportunities for multi-disciplined working (internally and externally). - Open dissemination of research output, where appropriate. - Technical documentation in support of all of the above.
